Saturday 1st June 2019
Arran CRC made their way again to Greenock to attend Royal West’s regatta with 11 rowers: Cil, Charlie, Colin, Dave, Emma, Fritzi, John, Karen, Ronnie, Rory and Stuart.
Royal West’s beautiful clubhouse and the beach in front were bustling with activity when the rowers of the seven paricipating clubs prepared their skiffs for racing:
Arran CRC, Firth of Clyde Coastal Rowing Club (FOCCR), North Berwick Rowing Club, Royal West Amateur Boat Club, Row Porty (Portobello), St Ayles Rowing Club, Troon Coastal Rowing Club
It was a great regatta day and even the weather was carefully chosen, sunshine all day 🙂 As usual the hospitality was great and the regatta was perfectly organised. Thank you to everybody at Royal West for all your efforts and hard work that went in to it.
Arran’s Mixed 50+ with cox Karen, stroke Emma, Dave, Stuart and Fritzi in bow were the winners in this race category and took home gold.
And also a big thank you to the Anstruther ladies and to Kate from Renegade who kindly reinforced our crews. We were chuffed by the selection for the Andy race who came first and won the gold medal: cox Rory, Mike from Troon at Stroke, Shug from Royal West, an Anstruther lady and Jacque Turner from North Berwick in bow. Congrats and a big thank you!
At the end of the day – and not completely unexpected 🙂 – Anstruther and North Berwick finished joint first and Arran close behind them in third place. A great result for us, especially as every rower achieved a bronze or gold during the day.
And as usual Emma & Dave found time inbetween their races to take lots of wonderful photos. Click here to go to their photo album on Facebook.
And the results:
