ACRC End of Season Dinner 2017

and the winner is….Rory!

It was a lovely evening we spent on 28th October in the freshly reopened Drift Inn. A big thank you to Amy, Euan and their team for hosting us and spoiling us with a yummy dinner.

We all had fun and enjoyed being together although everybody seemed to be a bit exhausted at the end of the season and not in a dancing mood despite Steve’s disco music (thank you for setting it up for us).

After dinner Dave presented the first Arran Coastal Rowing Members Award to Rory Cowan for his continuous and outstanding contribution to the club over the last year – making new oars, keeping our skiffs in good shape, towing the trailer to the regattas, mending everything that’s damaged and broken…. There were several worthy nominees, who were all recognised for their individual achievements but only one could be the winner this year.

our raffle prizes

It was great that so many brought such imaginative and lovely raffle prizes along and bought lots of tickets – thank you and also to Emma for running the raffle.

Arran Wild Rower

When Stuart and Fritzi were in Stranraer they loved singing the “Wild Rower” after the races with the Northern Irish crews. Sketrick kindly sent us their version but Stuart had the idea to create our own Arran version to sum up a successful and fun season. Rory kindly edited the text and accompanied us singers on his accordion. What a great song, sang with enthusiasm by all in the Drift Inn. And here’s the text

Photos

And last not but least a big thank you to Nick (Arran PhotoGnick) for dropping by and taking tons of photos and amongst them some stunning portraits. Follow this link (click here) to the photo album and enjoy.

What a great evening we had!
